Northern Flow is and experienced backcountry ski guiding company based in Nakafurano, in the middle of the Furano valley. We sit between Daisetsuzan National Park and the Yubari Mountains, where Furano ski area is. We are geared towards small private groups  of 2-4. Touring & avalanche gear is essential.

Furano Adventure Tours is now part of Northern Flow, but we guide the same way we always have. For 10+ years we've taken our clients on adventures around Furano and across Hokkaido & beyond. Most of our guests come from word of mouth or are coming back for another trip.

 

Our local guides live here full time so what you spend stays in the valley. We draw our deep understanding of the conditions and terrain from years of experience and our network of connections.

 

​​We start very early for the famous spots, or head to more obscure locations, such as up forestry roads through jungle to terrain features that are hidden from view. That gives us time to slow down and enjoy Hokkaido's wilderness at our own pace.

From steep couloirs to mellow meadows, the depths of winter to late spring, we've explored and guided all of it. Between us, we've made several of the most wild first ski descents in the Furano area over the last 10 to 20 years.

Furano's inland setting gives it a rare balance of cold temperatures and steady snowfall, The perfect base for finding that magical winter setting. No matter what direction a storm hits Hokkaido, from this central location we can chase it.
